5. Finding Your Grounded Self
When life keeps pulling you in different directions, it can feel almost impossible to know what you actually think, feel, or need. This workbook is about finding that still point inside you — and understanding the internal dynamics that make it so hard to stay there.
Finding Your Grounded Self draws on Transactional Analysis (the ego states framework) to help you see which part of you tends to take the wheel under pressure — and what happens when the different voices in your head all start talking at once. You'll use the Circle of Control, Influence, and Concern to bring focus to where your energy is actually going, and explore practices for inner grounding when things feel unsteady.
You'll also spend time with self-compassion — drawing on Kristin Neff's research — alongside the inner critic work that so often gets in the way of it. An exploration of core human needs — including Maslow's hierarchy and the NVC needs inventory — helps you name what you're truly missing when you feel depleted or stuck.
